This was my final for my color concept class at CCAD. The objective of this assignment was to complete a series of work with a defined subject, three specified color objectives and to incorporate a 3-D element. I chose the subject matter of flies and venus fly traps. I wanted the piece to somehow relate to my major(industrial design). I accomplished this by transforming my theme into a furniture design. This chest of drawers is made of illustration board, mount board, handmade paper, and is decorated with acrylic paint and colored pencils. The back of the chest(not pictured) is a scene with flies being devoured by hungry venus fly traps. The two drawers feature a exaggerated color fly wing and a low key fly head.
Weird? Yes.
Why did I chose this theme?

I really hate flies, but there is something very beautiful and haunting about this piece. Lovely work!
